A 22-room boutique hotel in a 1920s republican-era mansion at the heart of Barranco's artistic district in Lima.

Casa República Barranco occupies a republican-era building from the 1920s in Barranco, Lima's bohemian quarter. Once a beach retreat for a wealthy local family, the building has been restored to become a 22-room boutique hotel that blends architectural heritage with contemporary comfort.

Why stay here

The hotel captivates first and foremost through its architecture: adobe construction, Italian elements and Art Deco touches, columned entrance, stained glass windows, soaring ceilings and ornamental ironwork. The restoration has preserved the original wooden floors and stucco patterns, testament to the house's storied past.

Its position in the heart of Barranco, Lima's artistic quarter, makes it an ideal base for exploring galleries, cafés and museums on foot. The hotel maintains a human scale, without the formality of larger beachfront properties.

Atmosphere

Common areas embrace understated elegance: works by local artists, wooden furnishings, light filtered through period stained glass. The rooftop terrace offers views across Barranco's rooftops and ranks among the property's finest assets at day's end. A library invites quiet evenings away from the vibrant bar scene in the neighborhood.

Rooms

The establishment features 22 rooms and suites whose décor combines contemporary elements with Andean references. Each room includes:

  • a king-size or queen-size bed with Egyptian cotton linens
  • a marble bathroom with toiletries
  • air conditioning, flat-screen television, safe, telephone
  • complimentary Wi-Fi

Select suites open onto private balconies overlooking the garden or city.

Services

The hotel does not offer full restaurant service; only breakfast and a bar operate on-site. Breakfast, served in the dining room or garden, features smoothies, fresh juices, charcuterie, breads, cereals, fresh fruit, made-to-order eggs, and complimentary tea and coffee. The bar serves local beers, wines, cocktails and snacks throughout the day and evening.

Additional amenities include a rooftop terrace, library, laundry service, business center, bicycle rentals and 24-hour concierge service, which can arrange guided tours of Lima, including Miraflores and the historic center.

Location

The hotel sits squarely in Barranco's heart, minutes on foot from the Bajada de los Baños—the picturesque pathway descending to the Pacific—and the Bridge of Sighs. The Museo Pedro de Osma and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo are also within the neighborhood.

From Jorge Chávez Airport, allow approximately 40 minutes driving time, longer during peak hours. The hotel can arrange a shuttle on request, and taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available in the area.

Surroundings

Barranco hosts a celebrated culinary scene, from ceviche to traditional desserts like suspiro a la limeña, alongside numerous bars featuring live music. Surfers head to nearby Makaha beach for the waves. To extend your exploration of Pérou, visit our pages on Lima, Hôtel Runcu in Cusco or Las Casitas del Colca.

When to visit

Lima moves to the rhythm of the garúa, the coastal fog that blankets the city from June through October and limits sunshine. The most pleasant season spans December through April, with clear skies and mild temperatures—and marks peak tourism. May and November offer a good balance between weather and visitor numbers.
