Arrival in Iquitos and boarding for your Amazon cruise

Upon your arrival at Iquitos airport, our team will welcome you for the beginning of your adventure in Amazon.

You will start with a guided tour of Iquitos, a vibrant and colourful city with a rich historical past. You will discover the must-see sites of the city

Iquitos → Nauta

After that, you will take a private vehicle to reach Nauta, a historic river port where you will board.

After approximately two hours from Iquitos, you will board La Perla. Your team will accompany you to your cabin, arranged to guarantee a comfortable stay.

The ship will then begin its navigation on the Marañon River. During this time, the naturalist guides on board will present you with the cruise itinerary, upcoming activities, as well as the wonders of Amazonian biodiversity. They will be at your disposal throughout the journey to answer your questions and share their knowledge about local fauna and flora.

After the on-board briefing, a welcome lunch will be served to you, offering you a taste of local cuisine flavors, with vegetarian options available. For any special requests, please inform your crew in advance.

Early in the evening, you will participate in your first night boat excursion, in the wild area of Nauta Caño. This outing will be an opportunity to observe animal life awakening at nightfall in the Amazon jungle.

Immersion in the Pacaya Samiria Reserve

In the morning, start your day with a picnic on the banks of the Yanayacu River at Pucate, one of the best-preserved areas of the national reserve of Pacaya Samiria.

Then, explore this fascinating aquatic ecosystem by traditional canoe. Enjoy an invigorating swim in the river, if you wish.

On the return to La Perla, lunch will be served in the boat's dining room, followed by a rest period.

A lecture on Amazonian philosophy will then be offered by our guides.

Later, meet the shaman from the San Regis community, who will share his knowledge of ancestral rituals, medicinal plants and Amazonian cosmovision. Our guides will be present to translate your questions or comments.

After this spiritual experience, participate in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony to contribute to environmental protection.

Back on the boat, relax while listening to live music before dinner. The guides will then present you with the activities planned for tomorrow.

Adventure in the Heart of the Jungle

The early morning hours are ideal for getting in touch with the jungle and observing a diversity of species. This is why a boat excursion is planned before breakfast, heading to the Quebrade de Iquitos, a privileged location for observing endemic species.

After this exploration, a buffet breakfast will await you on the boat.

Next, a jungle walk will lead you to the suspended bridges area, where you can walk through the lush canopy and admire the jungle from a unique viewpoint.

Before noon, we will return to the boat for lunch on board, followed by a rest period.

Later, a boat expedition to the Shiriyacu stream is planned. This location is perfect for piranha fishing, using local techniques and equipment, and is also renowned for observing pink dolphins.

On the way back, enjoy live music while savoring a delicious dinner on board.

Birdwatching in the Amazon and meeting the Vista Alegre community

At dawn, we will board a boat to explore the shores of the Ucayali River, where splendid Amazonian birds inhabit the dense canopy. This natural spectacle offers a true festival of colors and life in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

After this fascinating excursion, we will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast on board. This meal offers a daily selection of traditional dishes, Peruvian specialties, freshly prepared homemade products, as well as a variety of fresh juices made from exotic jungle fruits unique to this region.

After breakfast, we will prepare for a new boat adventure on the Yarapa River of the Ucayali, a perfect place to observe toucans. This region is ideal for admiring toucans, parrots, macaws, iguanas, sloths and monkeys perched in the trees.

Returning to La Perla, we will have lunch on board and enjoy a moment of relaxation. The guides will then offer an enriching lecture on Amazonian local culture.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Vista Alegre village to meet the indigenous community and discover their traditions, with the assistance of guides who will serve as interpreters and translators.

On the way back, you will be able to relax listening to live music before enjoying dinner on board.

Source of the Amazon

After an invigorating breakfast, our guides will take you to visit the Pacaya Samiria reserve, renowned as one of the most spectacular jungle reserves in the world. This region is unique with its flooded forests for much of the year.

Next, we will embark on a boat expedition to the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, a majestic jungle site where the Amazon River originates.

Before returning to La Perla, we will explore the Piraña Cocha region in search of diverse wildlife.

During the return journey, a delicious lunch will be served to you, offering you a well-deserved break to rest before your next adventure: a hike on the winding trails of the Amazon jungle. This walk will guide you through the magnificent Casual region, home to poison dart frogs and many exotic species.

You will also have the opportunity to admire the imposing trees nicknamed "Avatar" by the locals. Those who wish can purchase handicrafts made by women from the region, thus supporting the local economy.

Back at La Perla, you can relax while admiring the sunset over the Amazon.

In the evening, enjoy live music before the crew's final presentation and farewell dinner. These exceptional moments in the Amazon will remain etched in your memories.

Last immersion in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon

The day begins gently with breakfast aboard La Perla, followed by a final immersion in the heart of Peruvian Amazonia. We will set our course for Nauta, the second most important city in the Loreto region.

Upon your arrival, you will depart by moto-taxi to the local market. This will be an opportunity to discover the daily life of the inhabitants, to meet colorful vendors and to soak up the lively atmosphere of the place. You will explore stalls of typical products: local cuisine, handicrafts, medicinal plants, aphrodisiac drinks… an authentic experience in the heart of Amazonian culture.

After this visit, you will return to the boat for one last moment on board, before heading to the airport.

Along the way, an enriching stop awaits you: a visit to the rescue and rehabilitation center for aquatic mammals, managed by the Amazon Forever organization. This center works to protect manatees, an endangered species, by caring for them and preparing them for a return to their natural habitat. You will also discover other animals rescued through the work of passionate biologists and volunteers. Passport

To enter Peru, your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months after your entry date and must contain at least one blank page for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).

Tourism stay without a visa

Entry requirements depend on your nationality. You must verify the visa requirements and any visa exemptions applicable to you with the embassy or consulate of Peru in your country of residence.

Generally, immigration authorities may request:

  • an exit ticket from the country (return flight or onward travel),

  • proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,

  • confirmation of an accommodation booking for the first nights.

Health and vaccinations

Vaccination requirements depend on your nationality and the regions you plan to visit. However, certain vaccinations are strongly recommended according to the areas visited:

  • yellow fever is recommended for travelers going to the Amazon regions and low-altitude areas (below 2,300 m); an international vaccination certificate may be required upon entry if you are arriving from a risk country,

  • updating routine vaccinations (hepatitis A, typhoid fever, tetanus) is advised.

Precautions against malaria are recommended in certain regions of the Peruvian Amazon. Consult a doctor or international vaccination center before your departure.

Travel with children

Minors must hold their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay.

When a minor travels without one or both parents, Peruvian authorities may require a notarized parental authorization, ideally translated into Spanish. Additional requirements may apply depending on your country of residence.
